Not much running involved but some great summits: SE Europe, Alps, Taiwan and Ecuador - an unusually foreign year by my standards! There are links below to photo sets. These in turn link to detailed reports on peakbagger.com. Ecuador: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8589216@N06/sets/72157613561718370/
Last weekend an excellent time was had: 2 good-weather days on the route. Read more below ....
Next recce is planned for Feb 20/21, vague plan being Sat: Rhinog (full length, 8-9h), Sun shorter!
March recce is 14/15th, same date as Auntie Pauline's North Wales weekend - hopefully can do both.
Yiannis Tridimas completed this fine (tough!) Round on 9 May 1998, which includes Cadair Idris, the Rhinogs, Arenigs and Dyfi Forest hills. Details can be found on http://www.gofar.org.uk/
No-one since Yiannis has yet completed it in under 24h. I'd like to have a crack at it on the 11th anniversary, Sat 9 May, with 16 May as a bad weather backup.
Did any MFR enter the OMM this year? There must be a good story to tell via the web site! Well done.

Well Mercia runners did us all proud- a greater number than any other club today. The day was fantastic and the weather showed us colours that do not normally get shared in N. Wales( ie usually GREY!)
Whilst no prizes plenty of represenattion through the field. A minutes ' silence was held in honour of Gill at the start.
Well done all and see the rest of you next year. In the meantime do not forget the Breiddens on 12the Oct.

Arthur Clare-Hay and I did the B class in the LAMM 2008 on the w/e of 7/8th June. We were the oldest team in the B class and the A and the C... The event this year was based around Glenfinnon, this boasts the oldest concrete viaduct in the world (what about the romans?) and features in the Harry Potter films. Very picturesque, especially when the Hogwarts Express steamed over the viaduct during registration (how did you manage that Martin?).
Looks like Andy was 3rd over all & Ed was 3rd V50.
Fantastic running boys.

I think it is fair to say that I have a love hate relationship with this event. during the second weekend of May I hate it, for the rest of the year I love it!
This year I had a travelling companion in Dave Nichols so for once it was nice to be able to chat about the event before the start.
I'll be setting off on a clockwise round at 1.15am in the early hours of Saturday 21st Jun 08. I've hopefully got a support team coming together but if anyone is free to pace or simply a fancies weekend in cumbria please get in touch 07887 501842 or aimtowin@hotmail.com . I've got the Achille Ratti hut on Dunmail Raise booked so there's lots of bunk space available for the friday and saturday nights. If it's a scorching day being handed a water bottle across the tops where there's few water sources could make all the diff
