As organisers of the Stretton Hills Race we would just like to say thank you to all the people who helped and made the day possible, we have had and seen lots of positive feedback from runners all over the country, and would like to take this opportunity to share it with everyone else in the team; Click on read More to see comments
Keith/Pauline,
A quick letter to thank you for a great days racing today at the Stretton
hills.I have to say,one of the best marshalled and organised events i've taken
part in (a point i have made on the FRA forum).Despite not running great,i was
very pleased i took part. Its just a shame you couldn't do anything about the
weather !
Please thank all marshalls for a brave effort out in the elements, and i'll
see you at a race soon.
Thanks again,all the best
Jon
Thanks for everything today.
Had to travel a fair way to get there and just managed with 15 minutes to
spare. Oops. We'll do better next time.
The organisation was impeccable. Cheers.
Kathryn and Chris.
Hi Pauline and Keith,
I just felt I had to write to you and let you know how much I enjoyed my
first Championship race and show my appreciation to all involved despite the
dreadful weather. Much appreciation to whoever marked the course, the route was
clearly marked even for me, whose navigational skills are useless! A huge thank
you to all the marshals and people at the start and finish, they did fantastic
job, I really felt for them standing around in such bleak conditions.
Thanks again and see you at the next race,
Mel xx
Hi, thanks for organising , it was a great course we all enjoyed it, I'm sorry
the weather wasn't kinder. Would you mind altering my club from DPFR to Pennine
( I am D.Soles, no 34, pos 85). I did email before the race and I mentioned it
at registration on the day. Thanks again,Dave.
Hi Keith &
Pauline,
Fantastic organisation yesterday, a real
professional feel about it despite conditions that would have caused chaos for
less well organised events, well done it was a credit to Mercia. As a race
participant everything was spot on and I know that runners felt assured by the
level of support that was obvious throughout the course
Cheers Paul
Congratulations to the Race Director and Team for a really well organised event. thanks for all your efforts and hard work.
Rick
Cracking little race - amazing how much climbing you can fit in over such a short distance.
Quite pleased to sneak in just within the hour.
Thanks especially to all the marshalls who spent a long time out in pretty awful conditions.
FRA Forum
Hi Keith & PaulineWell Done !!Congrats on yesterday,
brilliant event, good route, well organised, lots ofpositive feedback too.
Shame about the weather, but not as bad as the Welsh1000 judging by the FRA
Forum.
Cheers Colin
Enjoyed that today,my first English championship race.Been full of cold
for about 10 days so had very little in the legs going up.Decided to
wear my Walshes which was also a mistake.Don't wear them often enough
to race in.Felt like i was running bare foot on some fast rocky (ish)
descents, and my feet were crying out for some support. So ended up
limping on the descents.
Thats enough of the excuses...race was one of the best marshalled and
organised events i've done, well done and thanks to Mercia fellrunners.
Just a shame about the weather.

Great little race! Half a Mynd but twice as nice! Like the way the
weather copied the usual February full Mynd conditions! Streams in full
spate, gloopy mud, skiddy rocks and a stretcher case....hope whoever it
was is OK. River for leg wash at the end was warmer than the lashing
rain....quite tempted to go for a swim!
How many forumites there? Saw Chris, chatted with Welsh Harrier and Long Dogs but not sure I would recognise others.

My personal thanks
go out to you and Pauline for an event that to me ran like clockwork. Weather on
the day really made it a tough, tough job to run the event but a sincere
'thankyou very much' from me and all my fellow Bingley
Harriers.
Kind regards
Hi Keith & Pauline, I'm writing to thanks you for your efforts in
staging the race in such trying conditions on Saturday. It was a first for me -
to come last! I'm amazed the time keepers hung around so long for
me.Seriously, I am extremenly grateful to the marshals (Don & Pete,
I think) on Ashlet, who realised that I was in a state. Don accompanied me to
the finish & was really concerned and patient with me, as I stumbled along.
He must have been cold himself. Once back at Carding Mill, a first
aider, Graham, took over. He made me strip off (in the middle of the cafe!) &
don warm clothes, fed me & made sure I started to come round so that me team
mates could take over. They booked me into a B & B. After a bath, a sleep
& a meal I was right as rain & travelled home this morning. I
would like to thank you, Pauline, too for taking the time to come and make sure
I was OK, when you had so many other things to sort out. I organise a fell race
myself so know what's involved. Please pass on my sincere thanks to ALL
your helpers and marshals, especially those who helped me directly, for doing
such a great job on a particularly foul day - it was more like November than
June.I fully intend to return to run on the Long Mynd, which I have
enjoyed so much on earlier occasions, and I'll try very hard not to get struck
down with hypothermia!Best wishes,Yours in sport,Pete
Hello Pauline,
Just a quick note to offer a
very well deserved vote of thanks to you and the team for all your efforts on
Saturday in what were for you very demanding circumstances. You coped without a
fluster when handling queries at the prize giving where others, I am sure, would
have not been quite so calm. The marshals must have been chilled to the bone
after their stint 'on station'.
I was not only delighted to have won my age
category and prize, but most suprised and 'over the moon' with the Inovate shoes
voucher. Things like that rarely happen to us 'oldies'!! Thankyou, and well done
to all once again.
Kind regards. Fred. Bingley Harriers. Vet

Dear Keith and Pauline, just to say thanks very much for a fantastic race
yesterday, I do realise the weather hadn't been ordered, but that was your
only downfall!!The whole event was well organised. The route was a
treat, and the marshalls can't be thanked enough for the help and support
all the way round.Thank you for flagging the route, must have been an
arduous task, but much appreciated by all.I want to do the race again
when I can see where I am!Regards Geraldine
Pauline,Many thanks for organising the race, I thought that it was
brilliant !Will it become a permanent fixture in the calendar, I hope so
as I would certainly be back, not only because the course is so good, but also
to try and break the hour (I was about 30 secs
over).RegardsMatthew(Chepstow Harriers)
Thank you for a well organised/marshalled race. Also a good tough route and
lovely weather...

Hi
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you for organising this event
and to all the marshals that helped out. It was very well organised and i
enjoyed it massively. I will definitely be doing more fell races in the future
and hope to do this one again next year.
Thanks for all your hard work.
Kind Regards
Sam
Keith & Pauline,I did your new race on
Saturday, but unfortunately I brought Cumbrian weather with me!
I,m writing,as a competitor to thank
you,and as a fellow organiser to congratulate you,on first class organisation. In
addition, your marshals did a heroic job in the circumstances.
If either or both of you,or alternatively
a couple of your marshals are doing Skiddaw this year,or Helvellyn or Skiddaw
next year, you will get free entry.Just mention my name at
Registration.
Thanks again.Kind Regards,Allan
Buckley,Keswick AC.
