Long Mynd Valleys  English Championship Counter in 2011

PLEASE NOTE THAT all requests for substitutions have to be with the Organisers by 12 o'clock on Monday 28th February.  After that a complete and final start list of all accepted entries will be shown below.

A Waiting List will be compiled of all entries received , these will be dealt with in date order. If a place in the race becomes available the Race Organiser will email or telephone you to see if you wish to accept it. if no reply is received after 36 hrs the place will be passed to the next entry

Substitutions will be allowed within Clubs only, please send all information in writing and substitute entry forms to the Race Organiser before 28th February 2011.

In conjunction with Pete Bland Sports and Harveys, a special edition map has been prepared of the route, and is available, either directly from Pete Bland, or at the race on the day.

INFORMATION REGARDING THE RACE WEEKEND.

Titterstone Clee Race - Saturday 5th March - 11.45 am  -  For those looking for a shorter race this weekend, or have pre entered the LMV and wish to do both races in the Shrophire Weekend Challenge, please note the following: Pre Entry is not required for The Titterstone Clee Race, anyone can enter, just turn up, pay and run. car parking is extremely tight at the start area,  so car-sharing is advised.  Be prepared to park before the village of Cleeton St. Mary and walk the 1/2 mile to registration/start, there will be a single portaloo at the event, it is suggested that you 'go' before you arrive, there are public toilets on the main road in Clee Hill village.  It is a surprisingly long trek from the A49 to the start and always takes twice as long as you think to get to this remote area,  give yourself lots of extra time to get there. Kit requirements will be advised at the start on the day, please come prepared to carry full body cover, map, whistle and compass, photocopy of the map is allowed. The Prize-giving will be at the 'Three Horseshoes', 1 1/2 miles north of the Race on the B4364. The Landlady says there will be hot food available. Click Here for full race details

 Long Mynd Valleys Race - Sunday 6th March - 11.30 am

Pre entry for this race is essental, if you have not pre entered and your name is not on the list below you will not be allowed to start. 

Car Parking and Camping -  The field behind the School (Registration) is available for car parking and camping from the Friday until Sunday night, if you wish to extend your stay please contact the Race Organiser to discuss. Please park and camp next to your car, there will be portaloo's, drinking water and an elsan disposal point.  There will be a small charge for this facility, The field will be signposted from the School.  On Sunday morning the car park will be manned and a charge of £1.00 will be made upon entry.  We advise you not to park in the Long Mynd Valleys itself, it gets very congested and it costs much more than £1 !!

Registration -  Registration will be signposted as you enter the School and numbers can be collected from 9.30 am. Please pick up your number from the appropriate desk and advise us if any changes etc, We will only issue one number to the person it belongs to and will not issue a goup of running numbers to one person.  There will be early starts available (10.30 am) If anyone wants an early start please advise the 'Help Desk' at Registration as soon as you arrive, PLEASE NOTE early starters will appear on the results but are not eligible for prizes. Signs advising of the kit requirements will be on show at registration -  NO KIT NO GO!  If you have a problem go to the Help Desk.

Maps of the Course - A specially commissioned map of the Long Mynd Valleys race route will be available to buy on the day from Pete Blands Van at the entrance to the School. You may, of course, use your own map, but a map you must have!

Refreshments -  There will be free tea & coffee before, and tea, coffee and soup after the race for the competitors. A selection of sandwiches and cakes will be available to purchase.

At the Start -  The start of the race is about ten minutes walk from the school. Please give yourself enough time to get there, once you are in the Valley, there will be rigorous kit checks - don't claim ignorance - it won't work!  The kit requirements will be clearly shown in the Registration Hall, if you have any problems with your kit go to the Help Desk.  There will be portaloos in the Valleys - use them please!

Cut off Times - Advise to note the cut off time, runners not reaching Checkpoint 4 within the cut off time of 1.15pm will be asked to retire and to return to the start/finish area by the quickest route to report their safe arrival back. All runners who have not completed the course by 3.00 pm will be deemed to be missing, therefore if you think it is going to take you more than three and a half hours to complete the course why not take advantage of the early start at 10.30 am.

At the Finish - As you finish the race try to pass through the finishing funnel in an orderly queue, this really helps the finish/timing marshalls, thanks for that.  As you finish you will be passed a bottle of water and a KitKat bar, we think you will have earned it!! When you get back to the school hot showers will be available.

Prize-Giving - The Prize Giving will take place as soon after the Race finishes as possible. The list of categories in which prizes will be awarded will be shown in the Hall at Registration.  We hope you will bear with us in waiting for the Prize-Giving and at the Prize Giving itself with its extensive prize list.
