CP5 has reverted it original location at the stream junction - GR 409 918 - and there will be no token drop there

CP8 has a time cut-off of 2.20PM, if you miss that you'll be asked to return to the start via the road

The 2014 Long Mynd Valleys Race is run under FRA Rules, the governing body of our sport, all runners who compete in any of our race must comply with FRA Rules and comply with the 2014 FRA Safety Requirements for fell races and carry all equipment specified by the FRA and race organisers. If you do not know the rules please click the on the links provided. Failure to comply with FRA Rules & or Requirements means you will not be allowed to start the race.

Car parking charges apply in Carding Mill Valley for non NT members - alternative free on street car parking is available 10 minute walk from registration. Please respect the privacy and property of the householders who live in the area.

Please use the toilets at registration. Please do not water the grass in the valley; the future of the race depends on this! Anyone caught will be embarrassed & then disqualified.­­

Retirement Procedure: You must report and surrender your race number to an official at the finish.

Safety: Make sure your number is worn on your chest and clearly visible. Competitors must be aware of weather conditions. All competitors must carry waterproof tops, waterproof bottoms, hat, gloves, emergency food, map, compass & whistle. Competitors will be checked. Any competitor not carrying this equipment will be disqualified. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN EASY FELL RACE AND IS UNSUITABLE FOR NOVICE OR UNFIT FELL RUNNERS.

Out of Bounds: The Golf Course and the lane between Minton and Little Stretton are not to be used for the race route.

Check Points and Cut Off Times will be strictly enforced & you will be asked to retire.

There could be race officials at checkpoints 1-9 who will be taking your number. In the event of the check point been unmanned, there will be an orienteering flag and a punch. Please punch your number to prove you visited these controls - checks will be made at the finish. Additional checks will be required at Check Points 2 and 5 to comply with the NEW FRA rules, see race monitoring below, make sure you are familiar with these, as failure to comply will result in disqualification. If you think you are likely to take more than three and half hours to get round there will be an earlier start at 10.30am, please let registration know if you wish to start at the earlier time. Early starts will be ineligible for prizes.

Race Monitoring: For 2014 we have introduced a tally system, following a review of the rules, by the FRA our governing body, there are revised guidelines for the running and monitoring of our races; 

So at registration you will be issued with a Race Number (printed on waterproof Tyvek paper), a Permit to Start card, and two wrist bands.
Each of these items carries the same race/competitor number  - so do not swap with anyone else.
· The Race Number must be worn on your chest (not folded or minimised) and made accessible to marshals at all check points and
at the finish.
· The Permit to Start card must be handed in at the start as you enter the start pen.
· The wrist bands must carried with you on the course and dropped in a bucket - one wrist band at each of two Monitor Points:
o the first @ CP2 (Road/Track Junction 423 946) and
o the second @ CP4 (Stream junction 408 920 - 1.05pm cut-off).
Failure to comply will lead to instant disqualification and the start of a search and rescue call out!

First Aid: Available at the Finish and checkpoint 6 Windy Batch. All other checkpoints will have basic items of first aid.

Changing and Showers:   Sorry - No showers available at this race

Coffee & Tea: Available from the National Trust Café next to registration

Soup & Bread: Available free to all finishers at race control following the race
