2010 Shropshire Hill Summer Series - Results

Steve Cale of Shrewsbury AC rounded off a superb series with a fine run at The Ragleth Inn Race, in very wet and slippery conditions, Steve managed to get within 3 seconds of Mark James' course record, to prove he was the rightful series champion, In the series he ended up 9 points head of Paul Jones of Oswestry and 13 points ahead of Ian Grindley, Both Paul and Ian had their rewards, by winning their respective age category group.

Stiperstones Fell Race - 14/07/10

Just a couple of days to go to this years race from the Stiperstones Inn, talking to John Sproson he tells me that English heritage have been doing some work in Mytton Dingle, new steps have been put in on the top half of the climb, with this in mind we have decided to reverse the course from the last few years, the race will go up the steps, down into Crows Nest Dingle, up towards Blackmoor Flat then descend from Shepherds Rock down Perkins Beach

Sad News - Ray Myers 1933 - 2010

It is with regret that we announce the passing of our good friend Ray Myers.   Ray was a founder member of Mercia Fellrunners, and continued to be a member into the present, he was a good supporter of the Club both runnning and on the sidelines of many fellrunning events and up until the Championship Race at Church Stretton last year was regularly seen encouraging Mercia runners.

Tim Davies Wins at Sedbergh

Tim Davies - Finishing at the European Mountain Trial on Snowdon

Mercia's Tim Davies was in fine form at the weekend racing against many of the countries top fellrunners at The Sedburgh 3 Peaks Race, The race, 4.1 miles long, with 1600' of ascent was the latest round in The English and British Championships, Tim reportedly was in the lead from the start and kept the chasing pack, that included brother Andi at bay, it sounds like Tim is back on fine form, hopefully full results will be available shortly
